Aight, I may misunderstand the prerelease deal. But the way I'm understanding it is, if you buy just Nightfall without the prerelease, then you get only 1 slot (on a merged account?). If you buy the prerelease and Nightfall you get 2 slots on a merged account.
Now I dunno if I understand it right, so if I don't please do enlighten me. However, if this is the case I think it puts me in the position of being between a rock and a hard place. I know this was discussed with factions but 2 slots to me is worth merging, but only one? The prerelease is probalby going to be around 20$ or whatever. I'm not going to pay that for just 1 slot extra when I can pay 9.99$ for one slot extra.
The items and the other extra's aren't really needed. I never look at them more than once, and they just end up taking up room after that. My problem with not merging is I have 5 chars I've put alot of effort into and 2 more I'm working on. I'd hate for them to not have access to the new features. However I feel that if you release a game you should offer enough slots for people to try out all the proffesions without having to pay through the nose for it.
There is no real life 55 build and no real life UW I can just go farm cash in. I know other games are more costly in the long run, but GW is finding other ways to close the gap in that respect.
Dunno mostly just want to make sure I have it right before trying to decide what I'll do. And give others the chance to give their thoughts.
(by the way I did search the keywords "Nightfall character slot". Didn't get anything working.)
Psft. I'll just rewrite the thing without editing it into a big hassle.
I'd assume the 'full release' of Nightfall would have 2 slots for merged accounts, and 4 for new accounts, and the pack that they announce is just that, "bonus pack". 1 extra slot, weapons and blaa. Pretty useless unless one wants all those bonuses, except if the bonus pack costs about the same as an extra slot would.
But whatabout pre-order Nightfall? Are those items included in it, or is there something else? o.x

Maybe you missed it, but Alex Weekes responded to this same type of question over on the Guild Hall forums. There's a link to it from the Game and Dev Tracker section of these forums, in the thread titled "8/1 Alex Weekes: Bonus Slot? Or only one slot for Nightfall?".
In short, the preorder slot is a bonus for getting the preorder. The release version will still have the 4 slots unmerged / 2 slots merged thing. At least, that's the meaning I took away from his comment. Feel free to look for yourself and see if you come to the same conclusion. If not, this thread will still be here to further discuss it .
8 slots? I barely use 3. Do people really play through this same game multiple times and turn into PVE noobs instead of doing PVP like the game was intended?

yup
90% of players with fancy armors on multiple chars are pve adicts
they cant handle gvg.

i REALLY hope that was just a bad attempt at trolling
sorry to tell you, but the game is made for both PvP AND PvE. Look at the developer chat about nightfall for proof. They said that that one was created to appease PvE players while Factions was for PvP players.
and some of us like me like to be able to have several different professions availible, and I personally dont like PvP only chars...

It has been said many times that merged accounts get 2 slots. And prerelease deal clearly says that you get "1 extra slot". Of course this doesn't mean you get 1 slot total, because that is less than 2 you would normally get, making it a crappy deal. As the word EXTRA hints this is an additional slot on top of what you normally get. Get some reading comprehesion plx.

I wonder if they will do as bad a job appeasing the PvE players with Nightfall as they did appeasing the PvP players with Factions.

D'oh! Where does it say that the game wasn't intended for PvE? Why do you jerks keep insisting that the game is for PvP and not PvE. Actually, the game was designed and rated for teens and older. Please, stop playing the game NOW as it is obvious you don't meet the minimum intelligence required to play.

I don't recall a minimum IQ requirement next to the age rating.
It normally doesn't matter how much a preorder [box] is to me, the stores I go to deduct that price from game when it's released. Or have done so in the past. If there will be 2 slots merge +1 slot from bonus, maybe I'll get it if any stores have it. Factions preorder boxes were never around.
Ok lets look at the fuzzy math again.
Nightfall only.
4*33.33%= 133%
If you merge it with an account that uses either Prophecies or Factions.
6*66.67%=399.9%
And if you have the complete amalgamation.
7*100% = 700%
This is one hundred percent better than the 600% we got when we merged our factions/prophecies account, and with only adding one slot. So why did i chose to represent what would happen with only one slot. 4 for prophecies, then 2 for factions, then 1 for Nightfall. You are getting access to more content.
Is this the way it is gonna work, I hope not, But i also hoped that we would have the full 4 slots for factions after merging.
I believe we will get two slots. I am planning for 2 slots.

Why do you people always have this opinion. "GW is for PvP" "GW is for PvE" your all so pretentious. Its been stated many times in the past GW is PvE as much as it is PvP. Geez do you think ANet go to all the effort to make PvE storylines, etc. If it was mainly PvP.

Stop saying that please. Why does everyone keep saying that the game was intended for pvp. Why call pve'ers noobs. We didn't do anything to you.
I am sure that PVP is fun. I am not very good at it, so it doesnt hold my attention for long. (well my inability as well as no drops). But it is still only half of the game. I hope that the day comes that both sides of this divide can show respect for eachother.
I think it is great that you like to pvp. I like to kill monsters, cap elites, open new locations, and such. We can both have fun in guild wars. That is why it is great.
the prerelease deal gets you 1 slot and Nightfall will give you 2. 1+2=3 that is what i understand. till Anet says something else i will leave it like that.
As for PvE and Pvp the game is made for both of those. Also rememeber that Nightfall was designed by the people that did Prophets which means it will be better then factions.
Propheys/night=Pve gamers
Factions/Next title=pvp gamers
That is my idea of how they set it up, but i could be TOTAL wrong.
